Dear General
I called on Col Corson as soon as possible this morning. He talks poverty,, says that when we assumed the Washington teachers it was not intended that an equal expense should be incurred in M'd. He says however that they have five teachers ready to start and that he will urge the apptmt of more at the meeting of the Board which takes place next Monday. I think that the society he represents will supply all the teachers we can find places for in M'd but fear they will be slow about it. Corson represents that their subscriptions have very recently fallen off some five hundred pr month. Shall I endeavor to meet the Board? If so, please write any new instructions. How many school houses will be ready by Feb 1st in M'd?
