Prince Frederick C.O., Calvert County, Md. March 5th, 1868. Rev. John Kimball: Your favor of the 27th instant I have [[underlined]] just [[/underlined]] received and I am left in considerable doubt by it. The cause of the doubt is this. Before I left Philadelphia and ever since I have been here, I have been under the impression that my salary was to have been paid by Col. Corson, but your letter states that [[underlined]] you [[/underlined]] will pay it. Can you explain, sir? I should prefer the [[underlined]] money; [[/underlined]] but, as I understand the draft may be negotiated at one of the stores, it is immaterial which I get Major VanDerlip informed me that we were required to report the day and night, school on separate blanks. I shall attempt to make or at least form a "division" although I think it is not exactly suited to [[underlined]] my [[/underlined]] school on account of the advancement demanded by it of its members.
