I enclose a letter from Mr. Coates, one of our active members, in regard to Mr. Johnson, a young gentleman whom we sent to Virginia to take charge of one of our schools.  We knew very little about his former history but feel sure that he will make a good teacher.  Soon after he was located at Buchanan Va. we had reports from that place that he was not as sound a Radical as the Freedmen desire, and we decided to recall him.
