they are allowed to join no society of any kind. and they are so prejudice of anything savering of Methodism. and so afraid of being drawn into anything of the sort. that it takes more explaining than the children are able to give. so I appointed a meeting on Saturday last to try and see if I could not gain the consent of some of the people to their children's joining the D. but the very severe storm prevented it. And I write you this, to show you. if I can not make a report of a division this month. it is not because I do not try.

I have been having a very large school. but the warm weather has taken a great many of then away. I am
