Dear Sir  Yours of 27 mar recd on Saturday. Our people are not yet Educated up to the standard of having a [[underlined]] white man [[/underlined]] to come & teach colored children. They would owing to their great prejudice and antipathy to that unfortunate class treat any white person assuming to act in that capacity with the greatest indignity. I speak knowingly because if they fail to treat their own color who may loyal, & have sympathy with the colored people, & who may wish to see that they are cared for & instructed, is it not too clear that they would almost murder right down any Northern white person who would undertake to Educate them systematically.  There are hundred and hundreds of our people who believe that [[strikethrough]] that [[/strikethrough]] all the negroes are [[underlined]] yet slaves [[underlined]] — that they are not as good as dogs & canibals and that class of people would make it their
