Mr. Kimball

Dear Sir,
We have received yours of Oct. 23d & regret to say that the low state of our funds prevents us from sending more teachers to Md. or elsewhere. We have only a few names of colored applicants which I enclose, with their addresses. Perhaps you would like to write & receive testimonials from them. They have applied here, & we were prepossessed in their favor but unable to send them for want of means.

Very truly yours
E. D. Cheney
