Conover S.D.

States that a colored man named [[underlined]] John H. Butler, [[/underlined]] representing himself as an agent of the Bureau, promised the colored people of that place that if they would secure the ground, the Bureau would furnish material for school-house to the amount of $300;

that he feels interested in the improvement of these people and desires definite information as to how the Bureau will aid them, and upon what conditions; that the colored people fear Butler is an imposter.
