Sir:
I left home on 9th [[?]] for this place, where I arrived today, being delayed by not finding any one to meet me, my baggage is not down yet, hence I have no writing materials. Both the Stage driver at our place and the boat Clerk objected to taking my transportation.

I do not find any books here and do not like to send order, as I do not know what books you use nor what the requisition of the school is. Mr. Cooper says you had promised to send books to him.
