My school has been closed during the holidays, & I told the trustees I would not reopen, until the building was made more comfortable. The stove was about as good as none, giving but little heat & smoking to such an extent, as compelled us to open both windows & door, at times when the weather was so cold that we could scarcely have kept comfortable in a tight room.

The fear of losing their school has spured them up to a little
