After the exercises were over I distributed the good things with an addition of apples and cookes given them by their friends of Leonardtown. I would have reported to you before but after school I was so busy I could not possibly write I have delivered the Books to Miss C. S. York personally and she was delighted to think I had brought them myself as it is was very convenient to have them sent by mail this season of the year

Every thing is progressing finely a splendid school of 60 scholars daily attendance which is very encouraging The Sunday school is doing finely likewise the night - school and debating Society - The school

house cannot hold all that came to the Debating Society.

Every think is satisfactory and I am proud to inform  you that the Freedmen of Leonardtown are beginning to see that Honor, honesty, integrity, intelligence, and moral and Religious Knowledge are all combined in the great boon [[underlined]] Education. [[/underlined]]
