Dear Sir, Elizabeth C. Johnson, went from here to Muttontown Md. Oct 12th  She waited there four weeks, and then returned home, not being able to get the trustees to give her the school.  John Thompson, & L. Coates, she says, wanted a Mr Engles to have the school.

We advanced $20 to her when she left.  We sent her to Mr Thompsons at Mr Kimball's direction (I think) or some one from your office - She ought to be paid for this time & her transportation. - We can't ask her to return the money & we will get nothing from the Bureau for this school for Oct. As we have advanced money to many of the teachers I fear
