Dear Sir
Your favor of the 10th inst. has just been received. — Our School Board will have a meeting on the 18th inst. when I shall have an opportunity to submit your letter & have Gen'l Howard's questions answered, which I shall have attended to at once.

Small boats are still running up & down the river as usual, & after the rains we had there is every prospect that for the next two weeks it will continue in navigable order.

I intended visiting Washington some time ago; but was prevented from leaving our place. My object is to secure [[underlined]] pecuniary assistance [[/underlined]] from our National Executive Committee for the establishing of a [[underlined]] German Radical Paper, [[/underlined]] the necessity of which is more & more felt every day. If you & Gen'l Howard would be so kind to point out the way, by which my object would be accomplished, or would see some members of the National Executive Committee & impress upon them the importance of a German Radical paper in West Va. I entertain the
