Mr. Kimbal, Dear Sir, 

I think you had ought to pay me for my labor, last December. I labored hard all that mounth, & my friends, boath white & colored thinks, I ought to ask you for my pay. 

They also think since they have looked into matters here & have found them entirely to my innocence, & suppose you have understood the same I had ought to have some pay for the three mounths that I lost during the time of my arrest. 

I hope Dear Sir, that you will regard me enough to answer this, for I wish to buy apiece of land here, my buying depends in a great measure upon your answer.
