St. Marys Md. Oct. 18th 1868.

Mr. J. Kimball

Dear Sir,

I do wish to trouble you and I hope you will not consider it so.

As no one has given me a receipt or anything of the kind for any money, I wish you would please tell me, to whom you paid the money and how much it was
I know that I owe an honest debt in Washington and one that I must surly pay as soon as I am able, but I wish to know when I have paid it. — when you have time please let me know about it, if it is not to much trouble.
