Upper Marboro Nov. 9th 1868

Mr. Kimball

Sir.

Yours of the 30th was rec'd, but having to wait some time for information necessarily caused delay. I have signed the vouchers for my Salary.

I have a Daily Register. I have not any Monthly Reports except the two you sent me on the 30th of last month.

Please when you can pay my Salary send it to Mrs. M.M. Douglas 182 Madison Ave. Baltimore.

[[underlined]] In sending the Transportation money [[/underlined]] to the above address you made a mistake of $1.50, you only sent $3.50. It is evidently known that I could not travel from Balt. to Marlboro for the mere sum of $3.50, and pay the expense of conveyance for self and Baggage from depots in Balt. & Washington and remain in Washington all night until morning. The sum of $5.00, I am sure is not to much for me to charge, and I certify upon my honor as a gentleman that the above is correct.

You stated in your letter that you had sent me [[underlined]] right blanks to sign [[/underlined]] so I did not hesitate from "obeying" your order though I knew there was a mistake. I signed it but made an explanation by an accompanying letter that there was an error. Please to be so kind as to send the Balance of $1.50 transportation money to Marlboro at my post office address.

The School is coming on finely, out of about forty children I met met in the Alphabet I have but four in now. If there is any chance to send me a clock by the Stage, and some Ink paper & envelopes for Official Business please do so.

With much Respect
