Your highly important letter of the 17th was duly rec'd and I stated in a letter in December to please to send my Salary to M.M. Douglas 61 Davis St Baltimore.  Please [[strikethrough]] ha [[/strikethrough]] to send the check for February's salary to the above directions and all others hereafter until otherwise notified and not to Madison AVe.

Sir, I have written to Gen. O O Howard in reference to being attacked by a white man without any cause or provocation.  I also inquired of him if the Bureau had any jurisdiction in the case and did the Bureau afford me any protection.  I have not had an answer as yet from him.
