Wayland Seminary Washington DC Nov 10th/69 Mr D.G.Swain Supt of Education Dear Sir. It is true that while being in Charles Co. Md, teaching school, I ordered books of Rev John Kimball who was then Supt of Education, but [[strikethrough]] never [[/strikethrough]] did not rec' them. The reason was, that he failed to send them according to my direction, You will find in your office the letter which I wrote for the books, ordering him to send them to Cross Roads P.O. Charles Co. Md, and he ordered Mr Ballantyne to send then to Doncaster P.O. Charles Co. Md, which order Mr Ballantyne obeyed. For this reason they failed to reach me. So I am not responsible for them. Respectfully yours, [[signature]] Cephas L. Davies [[/signature]]
