Dear Sir, 
When our friend Mr. Brooke went to Washington on Friday last, I forgot to send the money due Mr. Wm Ballantyne for the writing=books. I hereby inclose it, and send it to you, - $5.55. Please excuse me for not not sending it before. 

The school is doing well. There is a prospect of increase. The colored people grow more and more enthusiastic. They desire to have the school kept up all summer; and I am sure, if you could see their good deportment, their rapid progress and  intense interest, as I do, you could not hesitate to keep it up during the
