THE EXPOSITION OF INDIAN TRIBAL ARTS, Inc.
578 Madison Avenue,
New York.

Instructions for shipment of
Murals to The Exposition of
Indian Tribal Arts, Inc., c/o
The Corcoran Gallery of Art,
Washington, D.C.

The murals for Washington will have to be prepaid by Mr. Faris and he also will have to carry insurance. Sending the whole Exposition to Washington is costing us over $500 and it is impossible for us to take on this expense.

Mr. Sloan does not understand why you have put frames on the boards. They cannot be shipped in the frames, for we will have nothing left of the murals when they reach Washington. If you want to send the frames you have made, have them knocked down and send them along, making sure they are properly marked for the murals to which they belong. If there are now any separations, please let the Indian artists work on them.

I am sending copies of these letters to Miss White, because Mr. Sloan wants her to see them before they are shipped. If they do not arrive in good condition so that they may be hung, it will surely put us in a very embarrassing position, for we have sent out loads of publicity on the fact that the murals will be shown in Washington. Mr. Sloan suggests that these large panels, until they are shipped, be put flat on the floor somewhere, so there will be no strain on them, and please do not send them with frames on them.

As Mr. Faris has already been informed, these murals are to reach Washington by the fifteenth of January, 1933, and are to be addressed to

The Exposition of Indian Tribal Arts, Inc.,
c/o The Corcoran Gallery of Art,
Washington, D. C.
