FIRST INDIAN ARTISTS ANNUAL MUSEUM OF NEW MEXICO ART GALLERY SANTA FE August 19 thru September 30, 1956 RULES OF THE EXHIBITION ELIGIBILITY: All Artists of Indian-American descent of the Southwestern and Great Plains Regions are invited to participate in the exhibition. SELECTION: Selection for exhibition will be made by a Jury composed of Dorothy Dunn Kramer, Las Cruces; Velino Herrera, Santa Fe; and Olive Rush, Santa Fe. AWARDS: Prizes and Awards will include: at least one Purchase for the Art Gallery's Collection; a 1st Cash Prize of $100.00; a 2nd Cash Prize of $50.00; and six Jury Honorable Mentions, all of which will be reproduced in catalog. TRAVELING EXHIBITION: Selections will also be made for the Art Gallery's nation-wide traveling exhibition of Indian Art. SPECIFICATIONS: Each artist may enter two works - only painting in opaque or transparent water color on paper will be eligible. All works shall have been completed within the past year and not previously exhibited at the Gallery. Entries may be of any size, but all shall be mounted on corrugated cardboard backing and matted with clean mat board in any tone of the artist's choice with an acetate sheet cover between the mat and the surface of the painting. Edges shall be sealed with gummed paper. Entries not prepared in this manner will be considered ineligible for exhibition. Identification labels shall be fixed on the backs of all entries. Entries may not be removed from the Exhibition before the close of the show. DEADLINES: Registration blanks shall be returned not later than July 10. Entries shall be delivered to the Gallery not later than July 17. Selection for exhibition will be made on July 20. The catalog of the Exhibition will be sent to the printer on August 1. The Exhibition will be hung during the week of August 13. SHIPPING DATA: Entries shall be delivered in person or shipped PREPAID to: First Indian Artists Annual Museum of New Mexico Art Gallery West Palace Avenue Santa Fe, New Mexico Entries not selected for Exhibition will be returned immediately following the meeting of the Jury. OPENING: The Exhibition will open with a public reception, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Sunday, August 19, and will run concurrently with the Forty-third Open-door Exhibition in the Gallery, through the Santa Fe Fiesta season.
