Co. Supt's Office,
New Creek, W. Va
Sept. 4th 1868.

John Kimball, Esq.
Washington, D.C.

Dear Sir: In answer to the within I would say that I have urged the matter upon several of the Boards of Education in this County, and the best I can do is to say that in Welton Tp, about 12 miles from here they wish to build a house for a negro school and will go at it at once if you can give aid according to our circumstances.

Lumber is very dear here and the Board of Ed— propose to erect a good hewed log house of [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] about 20 x 30 ft, comfortable in every way and furnish the same, [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] if you can give $200 Government aid. The location is the most convenient in the County. The ravages of the war prevent us from building a frame house. If necessary I will go and see you in regard to this matter.

Hoping the above may suit you, and that I will hear from you without delay

I Remain
Yrs ty
