Piscataway Oct 5th 1868

Yesterday I notified the people in the school house assembled, to send their children this Am. which they did to the number of twenty and after an examination I find them mostly in want of spelling books primary, and first readers, some of them has Comly's spelling book but I told them they would have to get such books as was adopted in the school I do not know what kind of books you have been furnishing the school with, but please send me about 3 doz primary spellers and about 18 first second and third readers, also about 6 copy books first second and third numbers  I find a necessity for inkwells for the desks please send me such old books as you can spare, slates &c. Wednesday the 7th inst I have set apart to open school. Send price lists of books, chalk pen and holder for teacher's desk and such other books as are necessary by bearer
