Yours of the 17th is now before me. In reply I would say that I would not care about going in the country to teach in the  present state of our national affairs. But if you have any situation open in any city under your jurisdiction I think I would accept if I should prove acceptable to you. I know nothing of the condition of the South except what I read in the papers and their colume are full just you [[strikethrough]] are [/strikethrough]] of all kinds of crime. Thinking a city to be far more seems in this respect is the reason why I prefer that field.
