Sir,
The letter, with documents enclosed, have been received. In relation to the school-house; to have it finished by the middle of Dec. would be [[underlined]] impossible [[/underlined]]. The first proposition you made us, (Aug. 24. when at a demonstration of ours) we could and would have complied with, without hesitation. It was as follows: $300, worth of lumber, and have it finished by January. Now to undertake to build a school-house according to the plan you sent us and to receive no assistance until finished, would be folly on our part.  We are greatly disappointed
