Bridgewater Mass.
July 20th 1868.

Rev. J. Kimball,

I did not make a request of Gen. C.H.H. to retain those barrack buildings, before I left feeling secure in their possession on the statement you made that no changes would occur, but, I am so anxious to retain the rooms to continue my school that I think best to write to Gen. C.H.H. which I have done. I thought I would also dot a few lines to you; and ask you to take care of my school interests, in Washington, during my absence, that I may find no impediments in the way of my teaching, during another year, and also, to tell you some of my impressions on New England soil. On Tuesday last my feet rested on their ancient hills for the first time.
