Pisgah Station
Charles Co. Md.
April 18th 1870

Mr W.L. Vanderlip
Washington D.C.

Sir
Have arrived at my station found no register nor blanks, the school-house in an unfinished and unfurnished condition, the last teachers board in arrears, and everything in an unsettled condition. It will require all the energy and care that I can Command to make the School what it should be.
Will the Gen grant us sufficient lumber to complete the house? there is no teachers desk blackboards maps nor none of the appliances belonging to a regular organized School. If I am to remain here I will need help to get things in order. I would be glad if the traveling supt. would give me a call at once Please send register and blanks at once.
     Respectfully
           M. Anderson
