Annapolis April 3 1870

Mr W L Vanderlip dear sir

I congratulate you on the ratification of the fifteenth amendment for which I am gratefull to the republican party and as you are one. I hope you will acknowledg the recept. our chool is doing very well under the care of our good teacher ^[[insertion} Mrs [[/insertion]] Clark, and her assistant Miss Howard but our people want rousing at this place. on education I wish you would come up or send som one to talk to them. Gilbert Colbert and other trustees of Saint Margaret wants a Teacher very much they requested me to ask you to send a teacher to teach them. they hav 75 children a grat many young men that would go to chool if they had a teacher. they can board a teacher. and hoo will hav ^[[insertion]] about [[/insertion]] three hundred yards to walk. from chool house to there place of boarding. they hav written to Baltimore and Mr Core say that his founds is so low that he cant send them a teacher. and Major will you please to send a teacher to them if you can. Nathan Ownens deed for the school lot was not in the county clerk offic and never was he will hav to go to work and get another deed for the lot. please let me know when you expect to com to annapolis Yours Truly
