Chesterville, March 6, 70. W. G. VanDerlip, Esq. Sir: I am happy to inform you that I arrived safely in Chesterville, about 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon, being detained until that time by an accident that happened to the boat: thence I went to Mr. Adam's, who had been to the wharf but had not seen me, owing to the late time I arrived. I will trouble you for Reports and a Roll Book and for all other things you deem necessary. With hopes that I may succeed in my new sphere of duty, I remain with respect your obedient servant, [[signature]] Andrew F. Hill. [[/signature]] N.B. — You will find my bill of expenses annexed.
