Dear Sir: This morning at 9 o'clock I opened school there being nineteen scholars present ages ranging from ten years to about twenty-two; they seem anxious and very apt.  Many are without books others are supplied with part of the books they [[strikethrough]] shall [[/strikethrough]] need. 

Not knowing to whom I should send for books to I determined to send a list of what I shall need, to you hoping that if it was not your place to send them you would oblige me by sending
