Baltimore May 23" 1870

Maj. W. L Van Derlip

Dear Sir
Yours of 21st just received, and in reply would say that I yesterday saw Miss Marshall, and they have concluded to postpone their meeting untill the middle of June and will soon fix the precise day and let me know, when I shall write you word and hope you will try and secure the attendance of Prof. J. M. Langston. I would like him also to be there on the 6th if possible, but presumed there would be so many meeting at that time fared it would be impossible. I had an object on 'view on' trying to get Dr. Broan to be in Harford and hope that he will be able to be in Prince George Co instead of Dr. Broan. If you pass through the City I would like to see you. I have sent word to Maria Jarrett to meet you at McComas Institute the 6th. I would like you and your wife to come over on saturday before the 6th and go up with me at 2.40 or 5 PM and stay at our house as we are again domicilled there. With reference to the Darlington people I have heard nothing.

They will have a Temperance Meeting at Churchville the 6th and are now trying to secure a part of the church lot for the School.

Yours Respectfully
