Churchville May 24th 1870.

Major W.L. VanDerlip,

Dear Sir,

Your favor of the 21st is just received, and I hasten to reply.

I knew nothing of the meeting at McComas Institute on Whit Monday until after I had written to you and Mr. McComas.

But was to see Mr. McComas on Sunday, and as soon as the Trustees decide on a day for the meeting, he will make all arrangements relative to the speakers and other necessary matters.

The meeting will not be before the 19th of June.

So please try to be with us.

I am sorry that you have been put to so much unnecessary trouble in writing.

I enclose your first letter so that you may see that you merely mentioned that it would not well suit to have the meeting before the one that has just come off in Baltimore.

Yours respectfully,
