Boston
Sept. 18, 1865
John Kimball Esq. Supt.
Dear Sir,
I found that the "school furniture" which I supposed to be desks, is in fact only a large pile of arm chairs, a portion of them small with boxes on the side for primary or infant schools, a portion of larger sizes without the boxes. It seems to me they would not be what you require; and as they cannot be packed closely the cost of transportation would be high. I do not hear of any other lots yet. I am sorry I have not been able to write more promptly, much occupation and poor health at the present time have hindered me.
Yours very resply,
