The colored people near Fort Ethan Allen — can furnish forty pupils for a day school. We will pay a part of the salary of a teacher.

We petition for the building at Fort Ethan Allen — the barracks about 36 ^[[insert]] feet [[/insert]] long — 16 wide — for a school house. We ask also for the ^[[insert]] two [[/insert]] little log buildings attached, for our wood houses.

If you will comply with our petition we will be grateful to you and to the Government.
