Rev. John Kimball,
Supt. Colored Schools.
Washington D.C.

Dear Sir
Your favor of the 21st reached me Friday or Saturday, but I could not write you last week.

I regret the misapprehension that has occurred, by which we lose the Lincoln Hospital Chapel and school house. I supposed you understood that we were ready to purchase some lots, at the reduced rates you mentioned, to place on them the Chapel in question, and that our former teacher Miss Gates would again occupy it. You doubtless understood the matter differently, hence the change. We shall have to regard it as providential.

We will endeavor to supply the Campbell hospital schools: and will make immediate arrangements to do so.
