Esteemed Friend.
The Friends Freedmen Association of this city being desirous of circulating copies of the Holy Scripture Tracts and other profitable reading matter among the Freedmen, have appointed a Committee to have this subject in charge. On behalf of that Commd I take the liberty of asking some information.

Are other Societies occupying the ground in and around Washington to such an extent as to render it unnecessary for us to do any thing, except in connection with our schools?

If not, canst thee give us some suggestions as to the best mode of organising a thorough distribution; Are there any persons employed amongst the Freedmen who could add this work to their present labours?

Is it feasible or desirable to enlist colored laborers in the work?

Any other information that may occur to thee as useful to us will be gladly received.

We propose to give children who can read a copy of Testament & Psalms, to families the whole bible, in good print, and to supply in special cases copies in large type to the old. 

We are also soliciting tracts for children and adults, and are having some prepared especially for the purpose. We have one in the hands of the printer, prepared by a lady who was one of
