[[underlined]] No. 361 Four and a half St. [[/underlined]]
Washington. D.C. July 17th 1866.

Mr. Kimball.
Sir:
Yours of the 14th received. The paper authorising the Howard T.J.L. Association to occupy the barracks on 6th St. is dated May 30th but the guards were not removed so that we could take possession of them until a week later. We do not think we ought to pay out before the time that we were allowed to take possession of the buildings as it was no fault of ours that it was not done indeed Miss D. was at considerable trouble in getting them off at last. I will try to see you before leaving for Vt. if I can find time. I trust there may be no further trouble in relation to the rent.

Respectfully.
