Dr. Pettijohn he drove out of the service taking not only the good name of a young man but his situation from him in which he could do so much good to the F for he was their friend. They will all say it of him. Col told the outrageous slander to Dr. Rayburn and of course he believed them. And thus believing Dr Rayburn did right to expel him. I honor Dr Rayburn for his standard of manly worth. But I believe he was wrongly informed. He did right to give position to only those he thought good We want such men in the Bureau. But tis of opinion the garden wants weeding yet. And that it often happens the innocent suffer in place of the guilty.
