Soldiers Free Library
Washington D.V. Dec 31-1866
Rev. John Kimball
Supt Schools. Bureau. B.F. & A.L.

Sir
There have been drawn from this Library during this month 1070 books; of which 472 were by colored children and 598 by soldiers.

A large number have been read without being taken from the room.- those are not included in the above.

The cash value of books, Tracts, cards, and periodicals, given to the Freedmens & others Mission S, Schools and to persons acting as Voluntary City Missionaries by the Boston Tract Society and Philadelphia Friends amounts to more than $250.

The number of books read from this Library during the year just closed, is nearly six times greater than from the Library of the Young Men's Christian Association of this City.

Respectfully submitted
Mrs J.B. Johnson Librarian.
