County of Upshur      }  Buckhannon township. Augt. 28th 1867.

Whereas, At a meeting of the Board of Education of the Township of Buckhannon in Upshur County and State of West. Va. on Tuesday the 27th day of August. A.D. 1867. at the Secretary's office.  The Board took into consideration the propriety of erecting a School House for the Education and instruction of youths of the Freedmen within, the Buckhannon School District No.1. in this township. And whereas the Board of Education at said meeting, appointed me a Commissioner, to draw up specification for a suitable building to be erected in the town of Buckhannon for the purpose aforesaid, and to contract for erection and completing said building with desks & seats for School purposes; and I am enabled to state to your Honor, that I Have this day contracted and entered into an article of agreement with Mundy + Phillips, House Carpenters, of this to place to erect and complete a School House for the purpose aforesaid, and have the buildings ready so that a school can be opened by the first October next ensuing, and I am directed by the County Superintendent of Free Schools to give you information of this arrangement at once, and desire your immediate answer.
