I fear. He joined Church once, but went back. His name is Elias Kent, He has two brothers nearly white, who are very smart. I like all the Blacks, but the Smart ones I take most comfort in. I wish this Society could join one, over in Washington and sometimes have all come out here and hold meetings. Have singing, speeches &c. and then ours go in, so as to make this Total Abstinence, bright as possible. Have a Jubilee once in awhile, when they can go from home, dress up be made account of, and feel they are of account. It would do them much good, to be invited to Washington to meet their fellow Temperance [[men?]] They would think it a big thing, to be asked to do so, by General [[?]] It would cultivate their self respect and they need that so. I have given out every chance I get, that General Howard, & Mr. Kimble will speak in this building, on Sunday the 17th of Nov at 11 oclock. I did not know what hour you would come But I suppose [[left margin]] that would be the hour. They are all coming and very [[/left margin]] [[right margin]] much pleased to think you care enough over them to take the trouble. [[/right margin]]
