I had a letter last week, saying, the Treasury was nearly exhausted, and they feared our school would have to be closed, before Spring, I am so sorry to hear it. I trusted they would keep this school up, 2 years longer anyhow, for the sake of the children.

They are a rich association and can do it easily as not. All they want, is to know the need of it, I fear they think I am partial. I think, if [[underlined]] thee [[/underlined]] were to write, and tell thee need, that Mrs Baker would read thy letter, at their Public meeting, and so would arouse the members

into giving money sufficient to carry it on longer. I do so want to be with these scholars, a year longer, and see what I can do with them. I shall leave them next November, cannot possibly remain longer than then. But till that time, I do so want to have this School only. I love my scholars, and now, as have such a nice room, desks and all, (thanks to your great kindness). I feel we can go right on, & do more good than we ever hope. Our temperance Association seems to prosper, if they will only stand firm.
