Georgetown DC May the 20th 1867

S I take this oppertunity to address you A few lines General Howard to beg your honor / in taken some active part in pleas have the fence put between me and the school and house I would of like to have it put up with out Disturbing  your gentleman but my mean was tus Small and I am [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] I am not able I have four small children to maintain I have [[?]] 4 [[?]] d to pay for doctor attention while my husband was sick he died the fourth day leaving me A little boy About seven old with A [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] broken leg u would not of Made this request of you but the fence was intirely hold when the school was built I have been waiting to begen my garden And it is so late
