General

I have the honor to Report that at Charlestown West Va the Board of Education have succeeded in purchasing a lot to Build a School house for Cold Children and inform me they are ready to receive the Brick and other material; and will proceed immediatly to build the Same. the Shipment of Brick to Martinsburg does not progress as rapidly as I would like it on account of the scarcity of cars. I have forwarded up to this date four cars of 4000 each. the agent of the Rail Road Company informs me he will endeavor to furnish cars to day. I have also hauled to the Canal Bank fifteen thousand ready to load on the Boat; I find it is necessary to have all the Brick (23,000) on the canal bank before loading in order that the Boat may not be delayed any longer than it can possibly be helped.

I further report that I have employed one team and driver at $3.50 per day and two Labrors. at $1 50. per day to load and haul to cars. &c.

I am General
Very Respectfully
