Sonora, Steuben Co, N.Y. Dec 6th, 1867

Rev John Kimball,
Dear Sir,

Your [favor?] of the 30th inst. is received; but I am sorry to say, that I can not come, till my friend Charles S. Lewis can come with me. Our hearts beat in unison; and we have but one and the same desires - to labor for the good of humanity. And we have long since found that individually, we can accomplish many times as much good, when we labor together and counsel together.
Please do find a place for him, either as my assistant or within two or three miles.
