The last report of operations of the Bureau under my Superintendence closed with the 30' day of June 1867. The Order for this report included the month of August, September and October 1867 leaving out the month of July 1867. I have reported that month, making four — instead of three months as directed. Some items require explanation.

The item "Bills paid by Quartermaster" does not show the entire expenditure for the Village of that Class, as some bills have been paid, copies of which have not been retained in this Office.

The item "Lands rent free" referrs to a portion of the Arlington Estate, which was covered with brush and shrubery — which Capt. Gates Superintendent directed to be let out to parties to clear for the use of the land the present year.

The enlargement of the Home for Aged infirm women commenced under the supervision of Capt. Gates is now nearly ready for occupancy —
