Makes request, that Eighteen (18.00) Dollars be paid to [[underlined]] John Wells [[/underlined]], a poor unfortunate colored boy, for taking care of the School House, Corner 17" & I Sts & the one on 19th St. bet. Penna. Ave. & I Sts. during the Months of Feby March & April 1867.

The Teachers of the Schools employed the boy with the hope that the Trustees for Colored Schools would pay him, but said Trustees do not feel able so to do owing to the small amount of money at their disposal
