It has been intimated to the Board of Education of Moorefield Township by the Rev'd Mr. Posey (Col'd) that the Freedman's Bureau would contribute some Two Hundred Dollars to aid [[strikethrough]] of educating [[/strikethrough]] in erecting a school house for the colored people of this [[strikethrough]] County [[/strikethrough]] Township - upon assurance being given the Bureau that the B. of E. were doing what they could, in promoting the caause of Education among the colored people - I woud state that the B. of E. have in the Treasurers hands & set apart for school purposes, One Thousand & Fifty four dollars for [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] use of the col'd people - and that the Board have taken steps to procure a site for a school house for them near Moorefield, & were about contracting with a responsible party for the erection of the same
