States, that in compliance with instructions from Col. Beebe, Local Supt. D.C. he has directed certain Employment Agents to canvass the City and collect all such colored children as may be found on the Streets in idleness and furnish each with a Card of admission to the nearest School. — The Agents report, that many of the Children would be glad to avail themselves of the opportunity but most of the Schools are full, or that the Teachers state, that they have orders to admit but fifty Pupils.

Requests instructions in the premises.

Respectfully referred to Rev. [[underlined]] John Kimball, [[/underlined]] Supt of Freedmen's Schools D.C. with directions that he take measures to ascertain at once the number of additional Scholars that may be received in each School of this City, notifying Teachers & Superintendents that the School Houses must be filled to the utmost capacity. He will also furnish to each Supt. of Schools or Teachers, where there is no Supt, a number of the printed admission Cards, equal to the number of vacant Seats, fixed upon, to be countersigned by them. — As soon as the Cards are countersigned, they will be furnished through the Local Supt to the various visiting Agents for the admission of Scholars according to the locality of the School.

Mr [[underlined]] Kimball [[/underlined]] will attend to this with the least possible delay.
