VOTED that the Board of Regents mourns the passing of their valued colleague J. Paul Austin and expresses its great admiration and sympathy to his family.  A man of extraordinary achievement, he blessed the Smithsonian with his interest as a member of the Board of Regents and its Investment Policy Committee.  It was an honor for the Board to have worked with him.  His warmth and counsel will be sorely missed.

[[underlined]] Minutes of the Meeting of September 16, 1985 [[/underlined]]

The Chancellor referred to the draft minutes of the meeting of September 16, 1985 which had previously been distributed, and the Regents approved the following resolution:

VOTED that the Board of Regents approves the minutes of the meeting of September 16, 1985 as previously circulated on October 25, 1985.

Mr. Humelsine reported that the Executive Committee of the Board of Regents met at noon, Friday, January 3, 1986, in the Ladies' Dining Room of the Supreme Court.  Present were:
