well help focus discussion of what is also a theoretical issue. The Council proposes these two topics for its next annual meeting, Scheduled for October 24-26, 1986.

There were also several Council members expressing some interest in International Programs for the Next Decade, if next year seemed to the Secretary an appropriate time for this discussion. However, this might also form an agenda item on a subsequent Council meeting.

It remains to offer again, like my predecessor, the Council's gratitude for the lively interest (and active participation) you have demonstrated in our deliberations. We again were treated with warm hospitality, climaxed by the splended dinner in the Castle. The various arrangements, which Mike Young helped coordinate, added immeasurably to our comfort. It is, I think appropriate to mention at the end both the sense of pleasure these meetings bring to us as visitors, and the continuing hope that our discussions are of some help both to you and the Institution.

Yours sincerely
